Peregrine Monolithics (Pty) Ltd is a South African based company manufacturing and selling all-copper machine-turned rifle and handgun bullets.

The project began from very humble roots. Adriaan Rall, a professional hunter and renowned marksman, designed the first bullet. His initial design drew from his game hunting experience and in 2009 he found a manufacturer, Specialty Mechanical Engineering (SME) a well-established defence industry manufacturer in Pretoria, South Africa, whose partners were willing to gamble on making this innovative product.  Rall ultimately patented the design and popularized the bullet among the professional hunter community in South Africa.

The partners, seeing potential in the new designs, stood up the Peregrine business and brought the bullets from design bench to the consumer shooting bench, and by 2018 the company manufactured, distributed, and supported one or more bullets in every commonly used sporting calibre.  Sold initially through firearms shops in South Africa, the partners adapted to the Internet and social media marketing platforms to popularize the product lines more aggressively than the brick-and-mortar shops, opening an online store well before such market places were common in Africa.

Further innovations at Peregrine are found throughout the design and manufacturing process. In short, they build the best performing modern bullets better than anyone else would have tried or is doing now with less challenging and less effective designs. The use of the brass plunger in the copper bullet to force expansion of the tip to deliver it energy at low velocities is one example. The unique open ended design of the sub-sonic carbine bullet which increases stability and delivered energy is another example.

The decade plus long support of the Peregrine project by the partners at SME is another example of the type of “community” it takes to bring a novel concept to market. These innovations, and the long-term support of the partners, are the reasons why we like Peregrine Monolithics.
