The Nkombe Rhino project offers the hope of direct action for the conservation of a select group of endangered species in South Africa and the sub-Saharan countries.

Demonstrating innovations in “process” is one of the several things that attracted Regina Mundi’s attention. Nkombe formed an alliance with an NGO based in the United States which provides tax deductible status for donations from American tax payers. Nkombe provided micro-funding of specific project needs for a variety of engaged groups instead of blanket funding a single program.

The Nkombe decision to re-direct programming funds during the FY 2020 to financial support of the various wildlife conservation staff and families of its preferred groups is another example of placing the wellbeing of the “people” squarely into the forefront of the conservation mission. The level of personal engagement matched the level of innovation. The leadership of Johan “Joe” Pietersen is worth supporting in conservation work as it was on the rugby field where he currently plays in Major League Rugby in the United States.
