Regina Mundi is a proud sponsor of Suretha Maartens, winner of multiple medals in the World Transplant Games.
The World Transplant Games were founded in 1978 as a way to heighten awareness of organ donation, and to spotlight the benefits of organ donation by demonstrating the health benefits that can be achieved through physical activities and sport after organ transplantation.
Ms. Maartens came to the attention of Regina Mundi through our sponsorship of the Kanonkop High School Girls Field Hockey team, which she coaches. Regina Mundi's sponsorship helped her to prepare for and travel to the 2015 Games, which were held in Argentina.
In the words of Ms. Maartens, "During these games, athletes from all over the world take part in various sports to celebrate their second chance of life that they have been given. All participating athletes had one or more organ transplant and now do these sports to either honour their donor or donor’s family."
We congratulate Ms. Maartens on her success, and applaud her efforts to help others through heightening awareness of organ donation.
